The Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India has announced the NSP Financial Assistance for Education of the Wards of Beedi / Cine / IOMC / LSDM Workers – Post Matric 2023-24 scholarship scheme. This scheme is open to students who are studying in Class 11, 12, Diploma, or Degree courses and whose parents are working in the Beedi, Limestone & Dolomite Mines, Cine, or Iron Ore Manganese & Chrome Ore Mines sectors.
Objective of the Scheme
The objective of the scheme is to provide financial assistance to the wards of Beedi / LSDM workers so that they can pursue higher education and improve their lives. The scheme will help to reduce the number of child labourers in these hazardous sectors and promote the education of children.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the NSP Financial Assistance for Education of the Wards of Beedi / Cine / IOMC / LSDM Workers – Post Matric 2023-24 scholarship scheme, students must meet the following criteria:
- They must be Indian citizens.
- They must be enrolled in a recognized educational institution in India.
- They must be studying in Class 11, 12, Diploma, or Degree courses.
- Their parents must be working in the Beedi, Limestone & Dolomite Mines, Cine, or Iron Ore Manganese & Chrome Ore Mines sectors.
- Their total monthly family income from all sources must be less than Rs. 10,000.
Quantum of Scholarship
The quantum of scholarship under the scheme is Rs. 25,000 per annum. The scholarship will be paid directly to the bank account of the student.
Students can apply for the NSP Financial Assistance for Education of the Wards of Beedi / Cine / IOMC / LSDM Workers – Post Matric 2023-24 scholarship scheme online through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). The last date to apply is November 30, 2023.
Documents Required
Students must submit the following documents along with their online application form:
- Income certificate of the parents from the competent authority.
- Caste certificate (if applicable).
- Disability certificate (if applicable).
- Proof of admission to the educational institution.
- Bank account details of the student.
Selection Process
The selection of students for the scholarship will be done on the basis of merit and need. The merit marks will be calculated based on the student’s performance in the previous examination. The need marks will be calculated based on the student’s family income and other factors.
Disbursement of Scholarship
The scholarship will be disbursed directly to the bank account of the student in two installments. The first installment will be paid in January and the second installment will be paid in July.
Renewal of Scholarship
The scholarship will be renewed for the subsequent years of study, subject to the student satisfying the eligibility criteria and maintaining good academic performance.
