Jagadis Bose National Science Talent Search Senior Scholarship Test (JBNSTS) 2023 is an initiative of the Jagadis Bose National Science Talent Search (JBNSTS), an autonomous registered society which is being promoted by the Government of West Bengal. The scheme caters to the development of creative undergraduate students studying Basic Sciences, Engineering & Medicine in registered institutions in West Bengal. It aims to conservation of scientific talent so that the nation’s need for science and technology personnel can be met.
The selected candidates will receive INR 4,000 per month & annual book grant of INR 5,000 for 4/5 years (till completion of B.Tech./B.E./MBBS/BS-MS/M.Sc. degree).
To be eligible, an applicant must:
- be a girl student
- be a domicile of West Bengal
- have passed Class 12 in the year 2023
- be studying B.Sc.(Hons.), Engineering or Medicine at undergraduate level in any institution, registered in West Bengal
Note –
- The applicants who have passed H.S. or equivalent examination before 2023 are not eligible to apply.
- Students pursuing B.Sc. Pass course/ Diploma course/ B.Sc. Nursing course are not eligible to apply.
Benefits
The selected candidates will receive INR 4,000 per month and an annual book grant of INR 5,000 for 4/5 years (till completion of B.Tech./B.E./MBBS/BS- MS/M.Sc. degree).
The girl candidates selected under Senior Bigyani Kanya Medha Britti 2023 (a flagship program of JBNSTS) will receive the following benefits along with the benefit mentioned above:
- A research grant amounting to INR 80,000 (INR 60,000 and INR 20,000) per annum is awarded to JBNSTS Senior Scholars till completion of Master’s degree in Basic Science curriculum vis-a-vis DST INSPIRE norms and regulation, Government of India.

Step 6: Fill in the required details, upload the required documents in the prescribed format and submit.
Note – The applicants are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of INR 200 (Note – Respective transaction charges are applicable as per Govt. rules).

Terms and Conditions
- Candidates must continue their UG studies in West Bengal from this year itself to apply for the scheme.
- Before final selection candidates have to submit their proof of admission in 1st year UG [Science (Hons.)/BS-MS/Engineering/Medicine] course in any institute in West Bengal.
- The candidates must have a valid email Id and mobile number (one email id/phone number should be used for one applicant only).
- The admit card and other details of the examination will also be sent to the email address provided in the application form.
