The Begum Hazrat Mahal National Scholarship is a scheme designed to support meritorious girls from six notified minority communities in India: Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, and Parsis. Initiated in 2003 by the Maulana Azad Education Foundation, its objective is to help these students continue their education by providing financial assistance for school-related expenses.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Girl students from minority communities.
- Class 9 to 12 students with a minimum of 50% marks in the previous exam.
- The annual family income must not exceed INR 2 lakh.
- The scholarship is not renewable and must be applied for each year.
Scholarship Amount:
- Class 9-10: INR 10,000 annually (paid in two instalments of INR 5,000).
- Class 11-12: INR 12,000 annually (paid in two instalments of INR 6,000).
Application Process:
Applicants must submit their forms online, accompanied by necessary documents such as:
- School verification form attested by the principal.
- Income certificate from a competent authority.
- Aadhaar card and other personal details.
Selection and Benefits:
Selection is based on academic merit and the family’s income. The scholarship helps cover tuition fees, books, and boarding charges. The funds are transferred directly to the student’s bank account via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).
For the academic year 2024-25, the application dates are expected to be announced around July, with the deadline likely in November
